What VeriFix is
VeriFix is a news and misinformation verification platform. People submit claims, messages, links and media, and VeriFix researches available evidence and presents what the sources show. VeriFix also publishes verified stories and hosts a private FactCheck Workspace used by newsrooms and fact-checking organisations.

How submitted content is processed
Submitted content is used to run a verification: the claim is analysed, relevant sources are searched, and supporting or contradicting evidence is assembled into a result. Processing happens on our servers and through the AI and search providers we use to power research (see “Third-party services”).
Whether verification content is stored
A verification submission and its result are stored so the result page can be reopened, shared and improved, and so identical claims can reuse an existing result instead of re-running costly research. If you are signed in, the verification is linked to your account; if you are not signed in, it is stored without an account identity.
Saved verifications
When you save or bookmark a verification while signed in, it is kept in your account until you remove it or delete your account.
Account information
Accounts are created with an email address using email sign-in or magic links. We store your email, authentication identifiers, and the preferences you set (topics, regions, languages, notification and display settings).
Cookies and local storage
We use cookies and browser local storage for essential functions: keeping you signed in, remembering your language, region and theme, and storing your cookie choices. Non- essential analytics cookies are only used if you enable them.
Analytics
VeriFix can use Google Analytics, which is enabled and configured by our administrators and only loads when analytics consent is given. Analytics data is aggregated and used to understand which features and pages are used.
Third-party services
VeriFix relies on: a managed database, authentication and storage provider for accounts and content; AI providers used for research, summarisation, translation and audio; news and search sources used to find evidence; and optionally Google Analytics and Google AdSense on advertising-enabled pages. No advertising is shown on verification, results, workspace or public fact-check pages. We do not sell personal data.
AI processing
AI models assist with research, summarisation and translation. Content you submit may be sent to those providers to produce a result. AI output can be incomplete or wrong; evidence and sources are shown so you can check the result yourself. For public fact-checks published from the FactCheck Workspace, human researchers and editors make the final editorial decision.
Data retention
Account and preference data is kept while your account is active. Verifications, reading history and saved items are kept until you delete them or delete your account. Diagnostic and security logs are kept for a short period (typically up to 90 days). Published public fact-checks and stories remain part of the public record, with corrections appended where appropriate.
Public vs private content
- Public: published stories, public fact-checks and their evidence and verdicts. These are visible to anyone and may be indexed by search engines.
- Temporary verification submissions: what you paste into the verify tool. These are not published as public fact-checks unless an editor reviews and publishes them.
- Saved user verifications: visible only to your account.
- Private newsroom content: claims, research, evidence and drafts inside the FactCheck Workspace are visible only to members of that workspace.
FactCheck Workspace privacy
Workspace content is isolated per organisation by database row-level security and is excluded from public pages, feeds and the sitemap. Workspace routes are marked noindex and blocked in robots.txt. Actions taken inside a workspace (research, verdicts, reviews, corrections) are recorded in an audit log visible to that workspace’s members.
Your rights
You can access, correct, export or delete your data. Depending on where you live you may also object to or restrict certain processing, withdraw consent, and complain to your local data protection authority. Most of this is available in Settings; anything else can be requested by email.
Corrections and deletion requests
To request a correction to a published fact-check or story, or deletion of data you submitted, use the contact page and include the relevant link and source. We aim to respond within a few working days.
Security
We use encrypted connections, row-level security in the database, restricted service credentials and least-privilege access. No system is perfectly secure — please report suspected issues through the contact page.
Children
VeriFix is not directed at children under 13.
Changes
VeriFix is in Public Beta and evolving. When this policy changes materially we will update this page and the date above.
